LIFE AT NEW DAY SOBER LIVING

Resident Expectations and Implementation at New Day Sober Living

Phase System:

  • New Day Sober Living (NDSL) operates on a structured phase system. Upon admission, residents begin at Phase 1. As they advance through the phases, they gain increased freedom and privileges.

Life Skills Development:

  • Discipline: Residents will be expected to diligently complete assigned house chores, attend both external and internal recovery meetings, and demonstrate consistency in maintaining employment and contributing earnings toward rent. Residents will also develop responsibility for their actions and improve time management skills.

  • Cleanliness: Each resident is assigned specific house chores and encouraged to keep their personal spaces organized. Both the community and staff will work together to uphold cleanliness and accountability.

  • Financial Management: NDSL will assist residents in establishing a budget, opening checking and savings accounts, tracking expenditures, and monitoring savings progress.

  • Recreational Activities: Engaging in physical activities, goal-setting, and stress relief are vital for recovery. NDSL organizes regular outings to demonstrate that sobriety can be enjoyable and fulfilling.

  • Relationships: Residents will be guided in expressing their feelings and emotions in a healthy manner, fostering better communication with friends and family.

Initial Weeks:

  • In the first week, new residents will acclimate to the community, explore employment opportunities, and develop a plan for their recovery. Enrollment in an outpatient treatment program is strongly encouraged, and NDSL can assist with this process.

  • Residents will find a sponsor and begin working through the twelve-step program. This commitment will require significant time and effort.

  • To facilitate a smoother integration into the community, new residents are advised to limit contact with family during the initial week. Family and friends should coordinate with NDSL management before scheduling any visitations.
